DIY Clothing Crafts for Tweens
Many little children enjoy playing dress up with old clothes, but once they hit the tween stage, what can you do with all those old clothes? No way. Here is a awesome crafts for tweens project you can do with some of those old clothes in the closet.
- T-Shirt Memory Quilt Ahh – old t-shirts – sometimes you, or your tween just can’t bear to get rid of them. Don’t fear. take those ratty old t-shirts filled with holes and sentimental value and turn them into a t-shirt quilt.
- Step 1: For your base, find a large piece of soft fabrice the size of your eventual quilt.
- Step 2: Then take all those favorite t-shirts – maybe you and your tween have collected them on driving trips or there from favorite activities and cut out the front logos in large squares. These will be your quilting squares
- Step3: Sew all the cut up t-shirt rectangles together until you have enough that match the size of your quilt base.
- Step 4: Then take cotton batting, which you can get at any fabric store, and stuff between the layers and sew the two layers together.
- Step 5: Complete the quilt by sewing along the t-shirt edges to keep the batting in place. Finally sew along the edges of the two layers. You can even add some deocrative edging like ribbons to make it really special.
You and your kids can have lots of fun with worn t-shirts that are just lying around the house. With any luck, you’ll want to collect all those t-shirts with an eyes towards making a fun t-shirt memory quilt.
